about

A galloping, beautiful, moonlit new full-length album from Jason Anderson, the subject of Antiquated Future's "What It Was And What We Wanted: Selected Songs 2005-2020" (Volume 3).

The Jason Anderson record you either knew or didn't know you'd been waiting for. Lyrically, an ode to the senses, scenes (from lovelorn solitude to cathartic togetherness) and seasons we all see and feel. Sonically, booming '80s nighttime soundtrack where synths melt with sparkling guitars and powerful anthems move into gliding, rich, atmospheric folk songs. This 10-song, no-filler scenic drive of a record could be thought of like the covered bridge depicted on the cover (a delightful connection to our Selected Songs volume): timeless, a little ghostly, sturdy, and mysterious, inviting the perpetual promise of something to spark wonder as you burst forth to the other side.

Jason made his name endlessly touring houses, colleges, campsites, legendary clubs, and cozy coffeehouses alike. He released a series of albums on K Records (Something/Everything, New England, The Wreath, The Hopeful and The Unafraid) – and in recent years vinyl LPs on Salinas Records (Omaha, Restless– and now First Light, tool!), as well as sharing a digital archive project and thrilling new EPs at jasonanderson.bandcamp.com.

REVIEWS

"These songs speak to the emotional and physical reactions we have when embracing our surroundings, when we stop and take a moment to simply exist in each moment. Between late-night highway stomps, gauzy folk stories, and synth-soaked rock psalms, these tracks exhibit wild streaks of independence and volatility before softening their approach to accommodate a gentler array of sentiment." - Beats Per Minute
