about

The sixth volume of our Selected Songs series shines a light on the ever-under-sung Portland, Oregon multi-instrumentalist Christopher Sutton. Known for his work as a touring member of the Gossip, The Dirtbombs, Chain & The Gang, and Spider & The Webs, he's also a prolific songwriter and collaborator, making music across a wide array of genres and scenes. This volume collects work from his time in Hornet Leg, C.O.C.O, Dub Narcotic Sound System, Cool Flowers, The Sun Ships, Hooded Hags, Sutton, Triple Daisies, and The Boozles.

REVIEWS

"It flows a lot like a perfectly eclectic mixtape, curated by someone with immense musical knowledge, perfect for a long drive. Have it ready to pop in when the college radio fades into static." - Razorcake

"Christopher Sutton has built up a deep and varied oeuvre of his own. A body of work of an artist and collaborator baulking at the limitations of clear styles and genres. A place where indie pop, punk and dub coexist, where funk and garage rock walk arm in arm, and any barriers are not so much hurdled but forgotten altogether." - Various Small Flames

"Antiquated Future celebrates the career of prolific Portland garage-punk singer-songwriter Christopher Sutton with this catchy collection." - Bandcamp New and Notable

SELECTED SONGS SERIES

The Selected Songs series seeks to shine a light on under-appreciated and overlooked artists from the present and past. Each volume serves as a curated primer to an artist’s catalog, or a hand-picked selection of an artist’s lost or forgotten songs.

The series is released by Antiquated Future Records and designed by Two Plum Press. Printed in editions of 300 gold-ticket cassettes, each volume is packaged in letterpress and offset-print boxes by Stumptown Printers Worker Cooperative, accompanied by Whatnow Press risograph-printed booklets with personal essays by curators Andrew Barton and Joshua James Amberson to give context to the artist’s work.
